Community Asset Mapping and the Healthy Communities Principles

A team of organizations and officials from the City of Fitchburg have been participating in the Massachusetts Forum for Creating Healthier Communities, an opportunity for community teams and individuals to participate in:

• Training for leaders and activists on topics as varied as leadership, developing coalitions, communication skills building, diversity, and using data to assess your community’s health.

• Expert Clinics that offer community leaders opportunities to examine, practice and improve specific initiatives.

• A statewide Mentoring Program that recruits mentors from existing healthy communities initiatives and trains them to effectively share wisdom and experience with other communities.

• Customized training & technical assistance that provides participants with training and technical assistance need to help prioritize health issues, develop community partnerships, find and use data, plan new initiatives, and evaluate and communicate progress.

As a result of this training, the participants hope to build capacity by utilizing local resources to promote the “Healthy Communities Principles” in Fitchburg (and the North Central Region).

Cost: The North Central Network of Nonprofits is a free drop-in group.
